Your 1st trip to India, so much to see, not enough time ? I recommend Rajasthan, an indian state located north west of India ! (best season from mid October to mid March) IF, WHEN A CHILD, you read one of those wonderful 1 001 nights tales and you wished you were there, then you will nourish your imagination and live your dreams. Rajasthan is the tale itself ! Full of vibrant colours, spicy smells, and legends. Women in colourful silk saris (each colour telling you more about the girl who is wearing it), men with huge moustaches, beautiful turbans, and huge magnificent loops on their ears. These fantastic rajputs like to see themselves as ancient warriors, and by the way they look at you, it is quite easy to believe it. At dawn time, head for the emblematic Taj Mahal, located in Agra, which will at the same time, catch your breath by its majestic calm and appease your senses. From the top of the Mehrangarh Fort discover the blue city of Jodhpur and behind it, the mysterious Thar Desert. Amidst the noisy crowd gathered at the foot of Jaipur wind palace, find the snake charmer. Spend the night at Neemrana Fort Palace and once the torchlights have been blown out, the wind of the desert will tell you the story of the local Maharaja who once lived there. Who knows? A wonderful princess ghost may visit you during the night ! ( Check -- http://www.neemranahotels.com/. Built in 1464 AD, Neemrana is a fort-palace located 100km from Delhi airport. room rate starts at 90EUR ) -- -- -- Want to know more? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rajasthan and I suggest : http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/rajastan/

Anyway thanks both for the high quality of your indian travel reports !!!
Yes ! I chose this picture to illustrate something that it is difficult to describe though important in the RAJASTHAN culture : MUSIC and DANCE ! so that you have a full picture of the culture of the region. You are likely to meet with such dancers and musicians in many places of Rajasthan, including Neemrana Fort Palace, where they have a typical show at night ! I also chose this picture because it reminds me a memorable time, and the music played that day still lingers in my ear!
I love your report - makes me want to go there soon - VERY soon - especially now that flights are so much cheaper than ever before and many more to choose from … great photos too … Well worth 5 stars…
