travel resume
This country of West Africa is completely wedged in the African grounds, it shares part of its history with that of France from which it was a former colony. Neighbors, in the East is Mali, the Benin in the South-East, Togo and Ghana in the South and the Ivory Coast in South-East, the Upper Volta, of its old name, is a French territory until 1960, year of its independence. In fact, it was only on August 4, 1984 that the name of Burkina Faso is given to it, meaning « the homeland of honest men » in local languages. Contrary to other colonised African countries, Burkina preserves only very few traces of it’s colonial past. My grand parents remained there before and it made me want to go there.
