As of mid-May 2010, health authorities reported 550 cases of hantavirus throughout the country, including more than 80 in Bayern and 40 in North Rhine-Westphalia. From January to the end of July 2010, 736 cases have been confirmed in Baden-Württemberg.

Germany has been affected by avian flu, yet no case of human transmission has been observed.
