Germany: Frankfurt International Airport hit by a strike

Air traffic controllers at Frankfurt International Airport will walkout today from 3 pm to 10 pm (local time). All flights in and out of the airport will be cancelled between 02:15 pm and 02:45 pm (local time); over 100 flights scheduled this afternoon have already been cancelled. This morning strikers threatened to widen their industrial action. The GdF union will continue its strike tomorrow from 8 am to 10 pm (local time) on February 17th.

Flight disruptions in Frankfurt International Airport, the busiest airport of Europe, are likely to last even after the end of the strike until backlogs are cleared.

People travelling in and out of Frankfurt Airport are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
