Unions representing SNCB workers (Belgium’s national railway operator) have called-off the strike originally scheduled on February 15th. Consequently, no disruptions are expected on the SNCB network and all international routes (including Eurostar and Thalys) should operate normally.
Unions cancelled the strike after negotiations with the administration. They were protesting against the austerity measures approved recently by the government to respond to the spending cuts demanded by the European Union. On January 30th, a general strike paralysed the Eurostar and Thalys services, disrupting hundreds of passengers.
Passengers are advised to listen to local media in order to get updated information about possible transport disruptions (including industrial actions) in the future.
