    Vietnam hit by severe flooding

On Wednesday, November 9th, authorities announced that at least 100 people died due to the severe flooding affecting currently large parts of Vietnam. Moreover, fresh torrential rains have prompted the evacuation of some 30,000 people in the central provinces. The southern Mekong Delta, where at least 78 people have died, is particularly affected. According to forecasts, heavy downpours will continue lashing the country in coming days. More flooding and landslides are expected.

Vietnam is facing its worst floods in a decade. Some 140,000 houses have been destroyed, leaving at least half a million people homeless across the country. This year, the monsoon rains have caused unusual devastation in countries like Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia, where hundreds of people have died.

People currently in Vietnam are advised to avoid areas affected by flooding. Confirm all your travel arrangements as several roads are flooded and inaccessible. Listen to local and international media in order to get updated information. If you are told to evacuate, do so and follow specific routes.
