South Korean airport becomes an entertainment hub

Travelers arriving in South Korea now have the chance to experience the country’s culture before they even leave the terminal. Incheon Airport near Seoul has launched a year-long cultural festival to remind visitors what’s in store for them after clearing customs. Known as Cultureport, arts events and performances, ranging from traditional music to boy bands, will take place everyday. Art exhibitions and even fashion shows will be included in the program. Experience, performance and exhibition are the focus of Cultureport. The program is part of a bigger initiative to have Incheon recognized as the top airport in the world. Organizers hope that the cultural events will encourage more people to visit South Korea or plan stopovers and connections through Seoul. With the average passenger made to spend at least 5.2 hours waiting for their flight, the events are a perfect way to keep people entertained while promoting the country. The airport is also home to various museums, art galleries, and even a Buddhist temple bell for travelers to enjoy.

Airport just the tip of the cultural iceberg for travelers

For travelers looking for a more fulfilling cultural experience than just the airport, tour operators are standing by to help. Tours catering specifically to travelers in transit will whisk passengers away for short cultural trips around Seoul. Ranging from one to three hours, the tours allow travelers to visit temples and markets around the city between flights. So, make sure to plan a short layover in the South Korean capital for a little bit of culture.
