Party under the moon in Thailand

Each year thousands of travelers descend on Thailand for its miles of beautiful beaches, palm trees and hot sun. But for those looking for more than just spending days basking in the sun there’s an added incentive to make the trip. Party-goers in search of a place to let loose migrate to the shores of Thailand’s Haad Kin on the island paradise of Koh Phangan for the ultimate party: the full moon party and the next one is on Dec. 21. The celebrations that continue from dusk until dawn attract travelers from around the globe, dancing the night away under the moon. The parties that follow the full moon cycle began about 20 years ago when visiting backpackers began holding small parties in what they considered to be the best place in the world to experience a full moon. Year-after-year the parties have continued to grow as word spread. The party’s simple beginnings have now been eclipsed by giant celebrations that draw the world’s biggest DJs along with thousands of full moon revellers.

Traveling to Thailand for the ultimate party

For travelers considering joining Thailand’s biggest party the best time is now. The next full moon party on Dec. 21 falls in the middle of Thailand’s dry season. It’s also the time of year when the parties attract the most people. Anywhere from 15 to 20 thousand partiers flood the beaches, so dancing room will be limited. The dry season also means expensive flights, but it is possible to find last minute deals. Although full moon parties are known to be wild. Thailand has strict drug laws that are especially enforced by police during the parties.
