The first explosion in central Bagdad occurred at 10.25 am (0725 GMT) at a police patrol in Dora, in the south of the city. Few minutes later, four others car bombs exploded near officials buildings, including the labour and interior ministries. These attacks come two days after the Iraqi parliament passed a new electoral law paving the way for general elections in February 2010.
Terrorist attacks remain extremely frequent in Iraq especially in Baghdad, Kirkuk and Mosul.
Be aware that most western Embassies strongly urge their citizens against travel to Iraq. Conditions are extremely dangerous throughout the country. The risk of terrorism remains extremely high.
