On April 6th, a series of explosions targeting residential buildings killed at least 28 people and wounded 72 others in Bagdad. This latest series of attacks occurred in mainly Shia areas. Suicide bombings took place in the following neighborhoods: Kadhmiya, Shula, Shurta Al-Rabia and on Haïfa Street in central Bagdad. Two days ago, on April 4th, another set of suicide car bombings near foreign embassies in the capital killed at least 41 people and wounded hundreds more. The three coordinated attacks took place near the Iranian embassy, Egyptian consulate and house of German ambassador in downtown Baghdad at around 11 a.m. (0800 GMT) on Sunday.
The bombings ended a period of relative calm after last month's parliamentary elections. Be aware that terrorist attacks remain extremely frequent in Iraq especially in Baghdad, Kirkuk and Mosul.
