    Attack Alert in the Philippines

Security has become much tighter in Manila as some governments in the West warned that there could be attacks in the city as well as in other parts of the Philippines. The national police and the armed forces in the Philippines have been put on high-level red alert as they try to find out whether their intelligence reports are valid. This means that troops are ordered to remain inside their barracks so they will be able to respond quickly and efficiently in the case of an attack. More police patrols have been sent to Manila, as well as more intelligence agents. A member of a terrorist group, Patta Hoyoy Jahal, was arrested in a village in Quezon City.

Tourist Spots in Philippines Under Attack Alert

As the military remains on red alert for the possibility of terrorist attacks in Manila and other parts of the Philippines, officials in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Britain and the United States are warning tourists from those countries who plan to travel to the Philippines that attacks might occur in public places like shopping malls or airports. Travel advisories have been posted in case of terrorist attacks. In the past, attacks have included bombings in public places as well as the kidnapping of foreigners. Any foreign citizens, whether they are tourists or living in the Philippines, are asked to be very cautious when in public places. Those who run shopping centers and malls have been asked to strengthen their security measures. All packages being brought into the country will be searched.
