Climate in Libya

Climatic conditions in Libya

Climate is under the influence of both the Mediterranean sea and the desert. The Libya coast has a Mediterranean climate: hot (30°C) and dry in summertime, mild and rainy in the winter. Temperatures can get as low as 8°C. Climate is semi-arid in the plains of the center and desert in southern Libya. At the end of spring and at the beginning of autumn, there is sometimes a hot and dry southern wind, very sandy, which hits in coastal towns.
